Minister of the federal capital territory, Nyesom Wike has said that President Bola Ahmed is determined to prioritize more projects to rural dwellers in the FCT, in order to improve the livelihood of Nigerians.
The minister said this on Thursday while flagging off the construction of a 1.7 km interdistrict road otherwise known as the collector road and engineering facilities connecting Daki biyu, Utako, Jabi and Wuye districts of Abuja.
He noted that President Tinubu’s administration is concerned particularly with those living in rural areas to ensure that they feel the impact of good governance.
Wike said that having carried out five consecutive days of flagging-off of new projects within the city center, 4 days too will be prioritised in the various area councils, to show the importance the FCTA administration shows in the development of a satellite town.
While expressing appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for giving priority to rural dwellers in the FCT in his project distributions, noted that the aim was to improve their welfare and raise their standards of living.
“The president has said, movement must not only be concentrated within the city where it is believed, they need to get an eye. the whole place should also be taken to the rural areas where we are considered.
“I believe that this is the first time for so many years that people who reside outside the city can feel the impact of governance and this is what it is supposed to be”, he said.
While speaking on the need to improve the aesthetics of the capital city in line with modern day realities, Wike disclosed that his administration will soon embark on the upgrade of Garki Area 1 and other old neighbourhoods in the capital city that are in dire need of facelift.
