Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has stepped into the political crisis in Rivers State, which has seen Governor Siminalayi Fubara battle with his predecessor Nyesom Wike.
Report has it that that Justice Kekere-Ekun has now summoned judges involved in conflicting rulings on political cases in the state.
A panel of the National Judicial Council will probe the judges, and Justice Kekere-Ekun has ordered the report to be submitted this week.
The panel, headed by a former Court of Appeal justice, includes two heads of courts.
The CJN has also summoned the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for questioning on Tuesday.
This development comes after formal complaints were filed with the Council. It is understood that the CJN individually ordered the comprehensive probe.
It would be recalled that Rivers State has been in high level political crisis which pitched the former Governor of the state, Nysom Wike and the incumbent Governor, Sim Fubara against each other.
There have been several conflicting court cases especially the ruling that restricted the Nigeria Police Force from providing security for Bayelsa eligible voters during the recently concluded local government elections in the state.
