Reps move towards tighter maritime security

In sync with the Legislative agenda of the 10th House of Representatives, underscoring inclusive governance, the green chamber has moved to establish a marine corps to promote coastal security in and around Nigeria.

Towards this end the Rep. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi-led House Committee on Navy has scheduled a Public Hearing to which it invites the general public, maritime stakeholders, and other interested parties today.

The Hearing will center on a Bill for an Act to Establish the Nigerian Marine Corps to Promote Maritime Security and for Related Matters, 2023 (HB. 225) in line with commitment to transparent and inclusive governance

According to the Spokesman of the House Rep Akin Rotimi Jnr the Public Hearing provides a platform for stakeholders and the general public to consider the bill’s merits and demerits and offer guidance to the House on its legislative action going forward.

The 10th House of Representatives, under the leadership of Speaker Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, remains committed to fostering inclusive legislative processes and engaging with citizens to ensure impactful and robust policymaking.

He encouraged all invited stakeholders and interested members of the public to attend and contribute meaningfully to the significant national discourse.
