Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that a total of 55,859 Permanent Voters Card (PVC) have been collected by prospective voters in Ondo State ahead of the November 16 governorship election.
This information was disclosed in a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voters Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, which was released on Tuesday.
Olumekun also noted that the PVCs were personally collected by the registered voters.
Stating that the collection of PVCs at the ward level had ended, Olumekun however revealed that the collection will continue at the Local Government level stating today, Wednesday 23rd.
The statement reads in part “Over a period of five days (17-21 October 2024), the commission made the PVCs from the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo States available for collection in all the 203 wards across the state.
“The commission is pleased to announce that at the end of the five days period, 55,859 cards were personally collected by new registrants as well as applicants for transfer and replacement of lost or damaged card as provided by law. This figure represents 62.2% of the 89,777 cards available for collection.
“This is the highest percentage of PVCs collected in five days in Ondo State since the commission introduced CVR in 2015.
“Meanwhile, the collection will resume in our 18 Local Government Area offices in Ondo State from Wednesday 23rd to Tuesday 29th October 2024 from 9:00 to 5:00pm daily including weekend.
“We appeal to the remaining voters to pick up their PVCs in person from our LGA offices. The commission reiterate its policy that no card will be collected by proxy.”
