Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command has successfully trained 135 personnel on Basic Arms and Weapons Handling to ensure effective service delivery and efficient security in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, CNAI, especially in Abuja.
Speaking at the Passing Out Parade held at the Command’s Headquarters at Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja, the FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu said that the training will help the Command to fulfil the Corps’ mandate of ensuring that the Country’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure were effectively protected from acts of vandalism.
He noted that the training of the personnel was a worthy step taken to curb the challenges of vandalism and other vices hampering the peace and development of the Federal Territory.

The FCT boss disclosed that from January till date, the Command has arrested over one hundred and twenty persons suspected to have engaged in vandalizing public facilities and theft adding that out of these numerous cases, the Corps has secured court convictions while some were still ongoing.
Dr Odumosu added that with the new trainees, the Command was better positioned to surpass the achievements of the Corps so far in the fight against vandalism and the protection of lives and property.
He congratulated the personnel passing out stating that Nigeria can rely on them for their protection.
“In discharge of of your duties, always remember the rules of engagement, be professional in handling your riffles, protect yourself, protect your riffles, protect lives and property,” he noted.
The FCT Commandant lauded the FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike for his unalloyed support to the NSCDC FCT Command adding that, “His empowerment of the Command through the provision of operational vehicles, motorcycles and other operational gadgets has been an immense boost to our capability.”
He assured of the Command’s commitment on delivering on her mandate towards enhancing peace and security in the FCT.
The representative of FCT Minister, Adamu Buba Gwary, the Director of Security at the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, expressed his pleasure for the galantry exhibited by the armed trained personnel adding that the trained personnel will be a boost to the security architecture in the FCT.
He commended the FCT Commandant for providing the necessary tools for his Officers and charged personnel to ensure roles of engagement at all times.
The passing out parade of the first course of Basic Arms training was graced by the Sector Commander of Federal Road safety Corps Chorrie Muta’a and Director, State Security Services, FCT, Isaac Chikere.
Highlight of the day was Passing Out Parade by trainees, unarmed combat display, silent drills and award presentation to outstanding graduands.
