Mayor of Otukpo urges youths to embark on business activities

The Mayor of Otukpo in Benue State, Chief Ignatius Aloga Ogbogo, has called on youths of Otukpo to embrace business ventures to enable them become economically assertive and self reliant.

Chief Ogbogo who made the call during an interface with newsmen in Otukpo on Sunday, said it is through business activities that the youths will develop their potentials, bridge the gap of unemployment and contribute their quota to the development of the town.

He sited examples of big economies in developed countries and several cities in Africa where youths start business from a very low level and grow to become billionaires.

“When you take up a business venture, no matter how small, after some time, have it registered to open opportunities from government and private organizations,” he advised.

He advised the youths not to involve themselves in social vices such as cultism, kidnapping, robbery, prostitution among others, urging them to channel their energy into positive ventures to uplift the community.
He appealed to the indigenes of Otukpo to prioritize cleanliness and hygiene in order to prevent outbreak of diseases.
The new mayor enjoined all Otukpo people to join hands with him to make Otukpo a model city where peace, progress and prosperity prevails.

Recall that Chief Ogbogo was appointed on the 24th of October, 2024 by the Idoma Area Traditional Council, IATC.
The Traditional Council in the Certificate of Recognition issued to Chief Ogbogo stated that his appointment is based on his track record among the people.
