Member of Kogi State House of Assembly representing Ogori-Magongo State Constituency, Hon. Bode Ogunmola, has applauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for approving release of funds for the resuscitation of vandalised Kogi State broadcasting Corporation, Ochaja sub-station.
Hon. Ogunmola (PDP-Ogori/Magongo) who was fielding questions from newsmen at the state Assembly Complex in Lokoja, commended Governor Ododo for approving resuscitation of the only radio station servicing the Eastern Senatorial District of the state.
The Legislator, who is also Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Information, expressed his appreciation to the governor particularly for matching words with action.
He said that the governor had earlier pledged total overhaul of the Kogi-owned Broadcast Media organisation, to ensure immediate restoration of broadcast services to the East Senatorial District.
The lawmaker explained that the revival of Radio Kogi, Ochaja, was expected to have a positive impact on the region by providing access to Information, Entertainment and Education.
Ogunmola noted that Governor Ododo’s commitment to the transformation of all sectors of the state was evident in the various projects and initiatives being implemented by his administration across the state, including road infrastructure development and empowerment programmes.
While thanking Governor Ododo for his interest in the broadcast sector, Ogunmola commended the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Femi Fanwo for his relentless efforts at ensuring the revival of the vandalised broadcast station.
Hon. Ogunmola who is also a former Commissioner for Information in the state, appealed to Governor Ododo to extend the same gesture to the State Printing Press and The Graphic Newspapers for optimal productivity.
It would be recalled that Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Ochaja sub-station in Dekina Local Government Area was in the night of Monday, June 5, 2023, attacked by unknown hoodlums.
According to the state Information Commissioner, Mr Fanwo, who undertook on-the-spot assessment of the station, the vandals destroyed broadcast equipment, carted away valuables, shut down the station and halted its services to the entire district.
