The governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressive Congress,APC, Sir Paul Chukwuma, has said he will fight insecurity in Anambra state by adopting community intelligence gathering and jobs creation, if elected.
Speaking to journalists in his country home,Umueri, Anambra East local government area, at the weekend, Chukwuma noted that he wouldn’t like to engage in any illegal means of attacking insecurity like bringing back the ‘Bakassi boys’. He said he would rather apply all the extant laws which includes empowering the local vigilante, police and other law enforcement agents to work for restoration of peace and order.
According to him, ” My administration would also work with community leaders, traditional rulers and other relevant institutions at the grassroots for crimes dictation, intelligence gathering and other mechanisms geared towards total eradication of insecurity in Anambra State.
“I will use instrumentality of the law to look inward and bring insecurity to an end in Anambra state. We have vigilante law. To what extent have we implemented that law? I will work with all the stakeholders and functionaries recognised by the state to ensure that community intelligence system works.
“My administration will adopt a holistic approach in crimes fighting. We will create jobs to curb unemployment and youth restiveness. We must be firm, just and ensure equitable distribution of resources. We must shun evidence of nepotism. We will ensure food security, implement minimum wage that is acceptable. We will make good policies to encourage ease of doing business.”
Chukwuma also talked about zoning formula amongst political parties, stating that the zoning pattern currently operating in the state is entirely an APGA arrangement, created to perpetuate their rule since 2006.
He said that his party,APC, has not agreed to such power-sharing formula in place, therefore, determined to take over power in the next governorship election.
Chukwuma noted that those pushing the zoning narrative are trying to deceive the people, pointing out that candidates from other zones had always contested elections in the state, regardless of APGA’s zoning decisions.
