The Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Abubakar Y. Sulaiman yesterday presented a proposed 2025 Budget of the state amounting to N465,850,248,317 billion fiscal appropriation to the House of Assembly for consideration and necessary passage.
Governor Bala Mohammed presented the 2025 proposed budget that was tagged budget of ‘Consolidation and Sustainable Development’ with a recurrent expenditure of
N182,743,955,931 (39.3 %) while capital expenditure secured N282,341,322,335 (60.7 %) of the total proposal.
The governor, accompanied by top government officials and traditional rulers, pointed out that the 2025 budget is 18% more than that of 2024 approved budget, especially in implementing the N70,000 new national minimum wage and contributory pension scheme in the state.
He pledged that his administration would ensure completion of all the ongoing projects to open up the economy of the state, saying that the inflation which pushes the prices of goods and general items up has also affected the projects and programmes of his government.
Recieving the proposed budget, the Speaker, Rt Hon Abubakar Suleiman pledged the legislature’s commitment to consider the document within the timeframe and commended the Governor for timely presentation of the document.
He warned heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, in the state to comply with the request of committees for budget defence as there will be sanctions for any infraction on the part of MDAs.
