Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has reiterated its commitment to decisively deal with those perpetrating acts of sabotage against the nation’s economy.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by CSC Afolabi Babawale, the Corps’ National Spokesperson to newsmen in Abuja.

Speaking at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, the CG’s SIS Commander, Deputy Commandant Appolos Dandaura relayed that those dealing illegally in petroleum products, vandalizing oil pipelines, siphoning crude and operating illegal refineries, amongst others, will not find a place to breathe as the Squad was poised to smoke them out of their hiding place.

Dandaura narrated the discovery which was hinged on sustained intelligence tip-off that suspected vandals had punctured a major delivery pipeline that supplies crude oil by connecting valves and siphoning huge quantities of crude in the trunk line in the Komkom community in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He said, “Operatives of CG’s SIS, upon arrival at the crime scene, observed that the unscrupulous elements have tampered with the pipelines by connecting valves and a large long Industrial hose measuring about 700 meters which was being used to siphon crude from source.”

“It was also observed that there were illegal connection points temporarily disconnected and the operating company was alerted to clamp the vandalised pipeline immediately”, he stated.

The CG’s SIS team lead further hinted that some exhibits found at the crime scene were heavy-duty industrial hoses and connection valves.

According to him, the Corps, under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi was determined to keep waging a relentless war against pipeline vandals, oil thieves and economic saboteurs across the nation.
