The Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, has issued an interim order stopping the upcoming election of the Nigeria Association of Auctioneers (NAA), scheduled for November 30.

Justice Emeka Nwite ruled that both parties involved in the dispute must maintain the status quo until the court reaches a final decision.

The case, brought forward by the NAA’s president, Alhaji Aliyu Kiliya, sought an injunction to prevent the association from holding elections on November 30 and requested two additional orders.

The court granted Kiliya’s request for an interim injunction, barring the association from conducting any meetings or elections until the next hearing of motion notice on November 6, 2024.

In a related move, Alhaji Aliyu Kiliya also announced the immediate termination of appointments for two officials: Bencoco Attah, the association’s legal adviser, and Tonte Dikko, the acting chairman of the task force.

Speaking to journalists, Kiliya explained that since these officials were appointed, not elected, their roles could be reassigned as necessary to serve the association’s needs.
