CODE engages Bayelsa community on legislative rights

In a significant initiative to enhance civic engagement, a Nongovernmental organization, Connected Development (CODE) organized a civic education program in Ogu Community, Yenagoa Local government area, LGA of Bayelsa state.

The event, which was supported by Magamba Network and facilitated by the Open Parly team, had other Community of Practice (CoP) members, aimed to empower citizens with knowledge about their rights and the legislative process.

Mrs. Tare Maureen Amananaghan, CODE’s State Support Officer, emphasized the importance of citizens holding their representatives accountable through voting and active participation in governance.

She urged community members to engage in dialogue with their legislators to foster accountability.

Additionally, Mrs. Juliet Uyabara encouraged women to pursue leadership roles within governance.

Local resident Jane Simangi expressed gratitude for the informative session, highlighting its educational value and requesting further support for women’s engagement with representatives.

This program reflects CODE’s commitment to promoting active citizenship and effective governance in Nigeria.
