Akpabio raises alarm over 20 million out-of-School children in Nigeria

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has raised the alarm over 20 million out of school children in Nigeria, saying it’s a time bomb.

He said the out of School children are potential Bandits tomorrow and that Nigerians should be worried about the problem

Akpabio who was speaking during the debate on the report of the committee on Education Basic and Secondary on the compelling Need to tackle the challenge of out of school children in Nigeria submitted by Senator Usman Lawal Adamu (Kaduna Central), insisted that if the elite continue to play lip service to the problem they will pay for it in the future.

He continued that so many senators cannot even visit their villages in the north because of insecurity occasioned by out of school children

He warned that Nigerians, especially in the north cannot continue to do nothing with millions of these children out of School

Many other senators who contributed in the debate collaborated in calling for urgent actions to be taken

Senator Henry Serieke Dickson while making his contribution called on the senate to convene a National Summit on the matter to be chaired by the Senate President to find a lasting solution

He moved a motion to the effect that the summit be convened with the Other arms of government in attendance and it was carried.
